Millennials Are About To Have A Mortgage

Happy Monday!

This is a new week with all new positive vibes.

These Millennials Are About To Have A Mortgage

The meme below describes Ryan and I’s expression when they finally accepted our offer. The 3rd home we put an offer in they accepted it. We are relieved that we finally have a permanent home.

Buying a home when they finally accept our offer.

We will be moving in June. I am so glad we won’t have to be jumping from apartment to apartment every year or so. It is a condo and it does have HOA fee’s but also this doesn’t have to be our forever home. It is the perfect starter home, two bedroom and one bath and it has the most perfect little patio in the back. We can eat outdoors during the summer and Lucky will love sunbathing outside.  We are getting our inspection done on Wednesday.

Transparency Is Important:

And to be completely transparent on the issue of Millennials buying homes Ryan’s mom is lending us the down-payment and helping us with inspection fees, closing costs etc. Let me repeat myself WE would not be able to buy our first home without her assistance.  I want to make that perfectly clear because I feel when young adults our ages are buying homes they are not being completely transparent.

The reason I want to be a 100% transparent on this issue is because so many of our generation will never be able to afford a home and that is very unfortunate. The most educated generation in the world is also the poorest generation in the world.  Please don’t ever think you are doing something wrong or not working enough or not saving enough or feel some type of way because you see some of your generation buying a home. I can probably say about 95% (If I’d have to guess) are receiving there parents help to buy a home.

The capitalistic system works against us time and time again. This system is meant to keep us poor or working class while the rich keep getting richer. Don’t ever feel that you ,” well damn if I only worked this many jobs then I’d be able to get a home”. Nope that is not the truth when it comes to buying homes in this country because parents are helping there kids buying homes.

Building Generational Wealth:

Generational wealth is so important and buying a home is probably the single most expensive purchase you will ever make in your life and the most important. This is why minorities don’t have generational wealth because most POC such as myself do not have parents that have the money to help there kids buy there first home.  I know it is easy for me to say because we are receiving help to buy our first home and we are truly indebted to his mom but I am writing this post because I feel like this topic needs to be discussed more.

When I moved to California I had accepted the fact we were never going to be able to afford our own home so this is a surprise that we are even buying one.

So with all that being said we are so excited and can’t wait to start decorating and making it our own. I will definitely be bringing you all along especially because I want to be transparent on how we are going to furnish this place.  So expect a lot of affordable decor posts and housing posts in the future! I can’t wait to share.

If you want to know the backstory then this, this and this post explains everything in more detail along with thoughts about the whole buying process.
